FM> Well I don't know VB that well, but I think you mean *visual* FM> objects, the things you see on your screen. AFAIK VB doesn't FM> have any object-oriented stuff, in the programming (rather than FM> the visual) sense. Actually, Pascal uses the same objects for both. I have since realised this. At first, I was using Pascal the way I used VB, using the objects *in* the code as a way of communicating with the Windows GUI when I was not waiting for an Event to drive it. When I try this in Pascal, I find that there are all sorts of restrictions, the most basic being that I can't refer to the form objects from another Unit. I can call then in the USES from the main unit, but I can't do the reverse or it loops. In VB, I can have separate units, but as soon as I put them in the project, the forms are available to everything. So... I have to learn a whole pack of objects in the code as well as the Windows interface. OTOH, the standard objects are easy enough to use. The catch is that I'll end up having to write a dozen of my own to replace the ones in BP7 that no longer exist in Delphi.
