Well, if you are using DSZ for your Zmodem, there's a parameter you need to set. I don't recall what it is, but I can look it up. The problem is that the lag time over a satellite link is *huge*. The time between when it sends a packet and when it gets an ACK or NAK from your end *ignoring* everything other than the speed of light lag for the satellite hop is 23,000*4/186,000. That's about half a second. The 23,000 *4 is because the packet has to go 23,000 miles to the satellite, another 23,000 down to the ground station in the states, then you reply has to go back over the same distance. Add in various network delays and you get times of over a second.
