I have used distinctive ring services for a BBS.  I also subscribed to the 
voice mail service.  Only calls to my voice "number" were redirected to the 
voice mail system.  Calls to the BBS "number" got a busy signal.
Sounds like they gave you TWO voice mail boxes for the price of one.  
A call to their technical support should clear up the problem.
