| subject: | KTX V.34 modems |
Tom, at 22:15 on Fri, Oct 11 1996, you wrote to Bill Grimsley ... TP> Well, I just set my up and done two calls, I've managed 31200/31200 TP> connect to David's Courier and 28800/28000 (top speed) to my isp. I What are you running with this modem (HyperTerminal, Telix)? Is it running under WIN95? I still can't get better than 28800 connects from here to David's courier. TP> see if I can get anything better with 33.6 capable modems. I'm still TP> battling with Win95, I understand that they try to make it simple TP> but I like to have some control over my modem. At the moment I don't TP> know what initialization goes on, all I know is that AA light goes TP> on and I'm worried because I don't want that. Does this mean you are using an external KTX (GVC)? TP> A couple of questions I forgot to ask: TP> Where can I find KTX Win95 info file and does it have any advantages TP> over standard GVC setup in Win95? I logged onto GVC's Taiwan and Canadian sites and grabbed a couple of INF files. Also logged into MaxTech in the US and I think I got one from there. When I try to set the modem up as "GVC V34+ internal" the comms software doesn't even seem to be able to talk to the modem. It disconnects straights away. TP> Does this modem have any diagnostic report like some other TP> Rockwells? Not that I know of. TP> BTW, why David's I)nterrogate Modem doesn't report S/N ratio? I know TP> it would be S/N seen by his modem but it could be useful to know it TP> anyway. I thought it did. I must look again.
