All excited, awaiting a word that it was ready. Got too excited and tried to
install a new modem in a new (actually old but new to me) 486 and finally get
my little opus running at full-tilt (registered trademark I suppose).
Needless to say the system wasn't all that happy and my hub even less so.
Fell behind in the Meadow area by about a month. Got everything all sorta
cool again (went back to original setup) and here it is (!) it's out (!) the
latest in Opus attire.

Get the web to spit out the files from Trev (wonderful job Trev, just
wonderful! Got a couple of typos for ya, but completely wonderful!) and
notice for the first time that I have my line in plugged into the line out on
my modem. Laughed about that as I put it in the "right" hole and noted with
wonder that my connect to the rest of the world improved tremendously.

Fresh ribbon for my auction-bought-wide-format printer (what a fast thing it
is too), a fresh box of auction-bought-wide-format-four copy-carbon-included
paper (spent a day turning it into four stacks of paper, a dumpster full of
carbon paper, one trashed T-shirt, and some black finger nails), found my
ooooooooold mirrored shades, my nerf smurph, my Godzilla toy, a fresh case of
coke and some chips and I was ready to go. Docs were clear and printed very
well. Installation went without a hitch and understanding took place at every
step. I tried the ATZ| and the ATA| and when opus went on line I would get a
very quick "Ata" on the monitor and the stupid pud would hang up. Well, I
went back to an old init string and the same thing...older init string and
the same... getridofstupidZ and same thing... glasses are off by this time.
Put in lots and lots of tildes... cokes going fast but chips are forgotten
and Godzilla has been lost in a corner after attacking the wall several
times. Trev is about to get a nasty note... coke is gone... get a call from a
caller wanting to know why the system is down... decides to call back in a
week or so instead of trying to answer questions he refuses to understand...
Read the docs from front to back (printed userman on the back of the tecman
to save some of that auction-bought-etc. paper) and from back to front. Got
distracted by the fax part and decided that it is really cruel to do
something like that without input on how to actually do it...

and then I remembered....

what I had done to the other computer's modem line in....

I didn't laugh, I didn't get excited when the very next try had opus up and
running wonderfully, I didn't tell a soul about it until today, and I still
suspect space aliens were involved... poop.

Hey folks, the latest version of Opus seems to be working wonderfully well
with a sportster internal 28.8 using ATZQ0E0H0M1V1X4S0=0&W and ATA| just like
they recommended. Always check your doohickies though.
Opus since 9/1986 and still confused about whatsnames and stuff.
