Yep. It was started in Cleveland, OH by a professor from Case Western
University and the concept spread across the nation. Unfortunately, the
one in my county just had it's plug pulled because of a lack of use.
And the fellow who invented FreeNet was busted for child pornography.
After he was caught, the newspapers reported he said that he spent half
a day downloading pictures from the 'net.
