General notes
 -----------
NYSkiers -- and external readers! -- caught a real goof in last
month's issue. For February 29th, year 2000 WAS a leapyear. I recalled
the brouhaha about the leapyear rules as part of the millennium
crossing, but got it backwards.
The Great Kills session originally set on February 14th was
changed to the 28th. Since I'm getting NYC Events into NYSkies a bit
earlier this time, I include this session at the top of the list.
The Observing Group now must end its meetings by 17h, not 18h, due
to new rules by its building manager. The real effect of this closing
hour is felt when meetings begin at 14:45, as they do starting in
April. The March 13th meeting, altho starting at 12:45, has a
compacted program to test the shorter duration. By happy chance, this
shortened meeting allowa attendees to make it in time to the National
Space Society meeting later in the afternoon.
The 'Astronomy forum' at Staten Island Community Television goes
on air at 20:00. I put the time at 19:30. Unlike lectures or exhibits,
it is horribly disruptive to enter the studio during air time. Please
be seated and settled BEFORE the cameras start rolling.
Two new members of NYC Events are Bucks-Mont Astronomical
Association (Doylestown PA) and Westport Astronomical Society,
(Westport CT). Perhaps they saw neighboring clubs in previous NYC
Events and felt left out?
The former meets on various weekdays and places. This strategy
gives a potential visitor a diverse chance at Bucks-Mont's offerings.
The latter has its own clubhouse outside the town of Westport, where
most of its events convene.
In February 2004 the Rockland Astronomy Club changed its name to
Northeast Astronomical Society. It'll take a while for the new name to
