I am the training and operations leader for Search Dogs of Minnesota.
We are an all volunteer SAR team covering the upper midwest. We will be
sponsoring two special trainings this spring that may be of interest.
April 26 to May 2: Wilderness EMT
This class will be taught by Wilderness Medical Associates. I have
attended their program and it was by far the most enjoyable and
comprehensive wilderness first aid I have been to. You must be at least
an EMT-B to participate. CEs are offered for 52 hours of training for
the National Registry for both EMTs and EMT-P. The cost is $550,
including room, board, and all neccessary training needs and texts.
Class size is limited to 26 and we anticipate filling. Registration is
required by April 1.
June 11 to 17: K-9 detection of human remains
This class will be taught by Andy Rebman (Conneticut State Police Ret.)
and Marcy Koenig. Dogs and handlers attending must be fieldable in
either wilderness or police service (ie this is not the class for the
novice handler). This class will deal with the basics of locating human
remains in both the criminal and noncrimnal fields. Cost is $600.00
I attended Andy's human remains course when it was a two week course
just after he retired. The training was invaluable.
If you have any questions, or would like registration information, leave
me an E-mail note and I will get back to you.
