Thanks. I don't support any off line readers at the moment (another reason
I want to change software), so at least I won't leave anybody hanging.
What OLRs do you know if that it works with?

Fair enough - I won't *have* to until next year after all.

Exactly - one of the things I tend to give friends at baby showers is a
small listing of all the things I wish someone had told ME before I had my
kid 12 years ago.  :->

however I am sure that if
PK>you install Maximus 3.01 using default settings, you will have a
PK>working Maximus environment within 10 mins of starting the
PK>install. Its increadibly easy to get a Maximus system up and
PK>running. I think it even includes a utility to convert an Opus
 PK>User base into Maximus format!

Great!

PK>The other area you will need to cover is a MAIL PROCESSOR
PK>(importing and exporting messsages from the Maximus Message
PK>bases). SQUISH is what most Maximus Sysops use, and it DEFINATELY
 PK>has a Y2K problem! However, a Y2K BETA was also released for
PK>SQUISH on 1-1-99. It also has some reported issues yet to be
 PK>resolved.

I just picked up the TUB echo for just this reason. (BTW - know anything
about Binkley? I'm going to need a FIDO & other fido tech net
interface that can handle half a dozen nodes or more on a regular basis)

Thanks a LOT for the information!
