-=> Quoting Blake Bowers to Scott Christensen <=-
SC> Which reminds me, at one time Lafayette sold a tunable VHF high band
SC> receiver - it tuned with a dial! Talk about having a hard time
BB> Heck, everyone used to make one of those. I used to have a UHF like
BB> that also.
BB> I even have a scanner, 4 channel, that had a tuning knob for EACH
BB> channel. Tune it with a dial for each channel, put the cover back on,
BB> and hit scan!
When I first joined the fire department, I bought a little hand-held
radio from Lafyette that tuned the AM broadcast band and the highband
VHF using tuning knobs. I was able to monitor all 3 fire freqs
simultaneously, it was so broad. When the first Bearcat scanners came
out, I said, "who needs it when I have this little radio?" Then the
radio quit working. GRRR. I think this was back in 1964, and I think
I only paid $25 for the little thing. It worked great while it worked
though...
