-=> Quoting Mark Lewis to Bruce Clark <=- BC> BBSNETS BBS apparently is having temporary problems with its' BC> QWK packet download system. BC> (Error opening d:\wc5\wcwork\node3\qwk\BBSNETS.ptr) ML> ouch! if you are seeing that as an error message from the bbs ML> software, that's ugly... no user should ever see any local directory ML> stuff from an online system... that's a major security risk if ever ML> there was one... I think his system only lets you see that to know why the requested transfer won't take place, otherwise some people would try the download over, and over, and over, and .... There's no way you can actually access that file directly. Being able to upload a PTR is part of the QWK configuration menu. You can do the configuration offline, then upload the PTR file, saving long distance fees in the old days. That's another reason I'm a regular at BBSNETS. Back then Juxtaposition was still $0.05/min long distance when BBSNETS was telnet. I would go to Juxta for the AnimeNet messages, then telnet to BBSNETS for the FidoNet messages. Eventually Todd added all the AnimeNet echoes to BBSNETS and I could get everything at the one place. AnimeNet was removed from BBSNETS a year or so ago, due to no message traffic. It had all gone to the internet newsgroups. ML> i haven't seen anything from todd cochrane in quite a while... Last I heard, the military was keeping him busy, what with all that is going on in the middle east and Korea.
