subject: modem drops carrier etc

From: "Sean Nixon"

Hi

Ive got a problem, that when I place a call to ibm.net

from the Torrance Marriott hotel in Los Angeles, the following

modems just drop the carrier shortly after connection.

Ive tried: a Zoom 28.8, IBM home and Away 14.4, Scout 14.4, Eigerlabs 28.8

all the same

(its costing me a fortune)

HOWEVER an Eigerlabs 14.4 pcmcia modem works ok.

The other modems all work fine everywhere else in the world that i go.

I borrowed the Eiger 14.4 & would use it if I had one.

Any ideas what the problem might be? why does the Eiger 14.4 work

and not the Scout (i think it has the same Cirrus chipset).

Thanks

Sean
