Hi Michael !
ML> Just because you can't afford something does that mean you
ML> should steal? So if i can't afford a TV I should steal it?
The difference is, that if you steal a TV, someone won't have it. If you
opy
a software, noone looses anything.
KD>But if I try a software (which is illegal with market releases now)
ML> A lot of companies offer demo programs.
Some do, some don't.
ML> If you pirate from a friend
ML> you can try theirs on their computer.
Don't tell me you see a huge difference between trying out something at your
friend's, or copying it, trying it at home and then erasing it. Do you
eally
commit a crime if you erase it in say, an hour ?
KD>I may bu
KD>it in the future when I will have enough money. Why ? For example
because
KD>don't want to be fined or jailed, and I will be able to afford to support
th
KD>author.
ML> That's said a lot more than it's done. I know a lot of people who
ML> pirate.
You buy everything you use ?
ML> i don't know anyone who has ever later paid for what the
ML> pirated.
Well, you live quite far from here, so it's not your fault that you haven't
met me before :-)
KD>So why is it illegal to try ANY software for at least a few days ?
ML> Give me a break. The only time a pirate only has something on their
ML> computer for a few days is when they don't like it otherwise they keep
ML> it for free.
I'm only saying that this trial should be free, and not considered a crime.
If they keep it, they do commit a crime.
KD>I'm talking about business programs, not games. As for games, a one hour
fr
KD>trial would also be reasonable.
ML> Which a lot of computer stores have. A lot of the time the have the
ML> games setup on there computers. That goes for other programs too.
It's not like this here. They would refuse to open the box and let you see
what's on the CD. Maybe for a much more expensive brand new game, they would
let you try it out.
Buy-bye.
