Dan,
    I did some checking and we actually have heard reports of some third
party Linux ESP drivers being available.  Unfortunately we have not
located these drivers yet, we're still looking.  There have been no
announcements regarding Hayes releasing any Linux specific ESP drivers at
the current time.
As for the Business modem, unfortunately we can't recommend using a
model specific for US/Canada in any other countries (or attempting to
flash the modem with code not designed for that specific board rev.)
There are differences in the units to take into account the differences
in phone line, power, specific country regulations, etc.
It would certainly make our jobs a lot easier if there were
international phone standards, etc!  Unfortunately that's not the case,
at least not yet, so we do have to produce country specific units.
