| subject: | My BBS access |
-=> Quoting Leonard Erickson to Bruce Clark <=- BC> I live in Portland, OR, which is in Multnomah County, which has the BC> library system that allows this. BC> BBSNETS BBS is in Hawaii and is only accessible over the internet. LE> That's *way* roundabout. LE> I'm in Portland. And I don't currently have a BBS running behind my LE> mailer, but I can set you up as a point easily enough. LE> Or you can try dialing into one of the other nodes in Net 105 that LE> still has a BBS on it. I don't mind the way I do it because I get on the internet first then telnet to BBSNETS or use the library's Lynx program to browse the internet. The main thing is that it is free, AND accessible through my DOS terminal program. Dialing into the library is my ONLY internet access. As the local BBSes shut down, I stuck with BBSNETS. There was one local one that was still up, but a combination of poor phone lines to his area, and hard to figure out menus, on a B&W monitor, kept me going to BBSNETS.
