| subject: | Re: KTX V.34 modems |
Once apon a time Tom Przeor said, 'KTX V.34 modems' to Bill Grimsley... TP> Well, I just set my up and done two calls, I've managed 31200/31200 TP> connect to David's Courier and 28800/28000 (top speed) to my isp. I TP> see if I can get anything better with 33.6 capable modems. I'm still TP> battling with Win95, I understand that they try to make it simple TP> but I like to have some control over my modem. At the moment I don't TP> know what initialization goes on, all I know is that AA light goes TP> on and I'm worried because I don't want that. Go into control panel->modems, get properties on your modem driver, click the connection tab, then advanced. Turning on "Record to a log file" records quite a detailed description of the exchanges between Win95 and the modem into a file called "Modemlog.txt" in the Windows directory. Try connecting to your ISP, disconnect, then load that file into notepad. Another trick is that the inconspicuous box labeled "extra settings" above it, is in fact a place where you can put an additional initialization string which is sent to the modem LAST. (After Win95's own calculated strings) This means you can use it to add extra settings (for example I have ATW2 to force my modem to report connect speed correctly) or you can use it to completely override the modem drivers built in "calculated" (based on the checkbox settings) values by using a string of the form AT&F..... Handy if you cant find the right modem driver.... Regards, Simon ... She criticized my house so I knocked her flat. --- FMail/386 1.02* Origin: ThunderBaud BBS, Whangarei, NZ, 28k8, 64-9-438-2416 (3:772/1230) SEEN-BY: 50/99 620/243 623/630 625/160 711/401 409 410 413 430 808 809 899 SEEN-BY: 711/932 934 712/311 407 505 506 515 517 624 628 704 824 841 713/317 SEEN-BY: 714/906 771/4020 772/1 10 20 30 40 90 135 140 190 205 235 380 460 SEEN-BY: 772/1230 774/605 800/1 @PATH: 772/1230 235 1 20 712/624 515 711/808 934 |
