The KTX (which is actually a rebadged GVC) supports MNP2-4 & LAPM error
correction, plus MNP5 & BTLZ data compression.  It is NOT a crippled
RPI-type modem, and the only real complaint I have with them is that some
functions cannot be saved to NVRAM (Ln, S7, S11 etc.), which is just a tad
annoying.  

However, at a street price of around $170 (the external is $7 dearer), it's
pretty hard to beat them for value as a fairly basic dial-up V.34 modem.
