Okay - I finally took the plunge and upgraded to Max 3.1, and did the Y2K upgrades too. Everything *seemed* to work perfectly... *seemed* being the operative word here. Alright, so I sort of cheated, having tested things on my other computer morethan a couple of yars ago... so I knew what I was doing when I ran Max 3.1. Problems arose when I tried to run FB -a It said something about putting a line into my autoexec.bat file which reads SET MAXIMUS=C:\MAX\MAX.PRM which I already had there. Then I noticed something funny with the FSE. WHen I would use the quoting in a reply, the moment I would actually copy 4 lines, the next 4 would appear without my having to use the ^C to go to the next 4 lines. Last but not least, and I am not sure if this one has to do with my modem, my INIT string or what - but I managed to download the latest F-PROT from the net onto my other computer, and when I went to transfer it by modem to the actual BBS, I had CRC errors like you would not believe. I will add that most users have claimed things are running very smooth, faster than before, and only one person who was uploading a file showed errors/timeouts in the logs. Another problem that arose when I tested thigns on my other system way back, was that the selected archiver went back to LHZ, as opposed to what they wanted to use. THis did not happen to me this time, for some unknown reason. Maybe Murphey was napping at that precise moment. Not being very technically minded, and definitely not knowing what all the terminology in the DOC fiels means, I guess you can say that RTFM is NOT working for me. All help and advice will be more than appreciated. Thanks loads! --- Maximus/2 3.01* Origin: Juxtaposition BBS.
