reread the above again... he states "other machines" (!) and to
use pipes in that method takes a bit more than just flinging them together
as pretty much can be done now... networked named pipes are very cool but
are also kinda tough to set up... my APC UPS wants networked named pipes
for it's server monitoring software but i can't because they're thinking of
warp server and i'm only running the workstation stuff...
