DL> I realize 'American' is supposed to be anyone from North America,
DL> Latin America, or South America, but the U.S. media has turned it
DL> into a term meaning anyone from the U.S.
As a US'er myself, I can get offended by the purloining of the word
"American" to mean only this country; however, we really don't have much
more of a choice. It was only around 20 or so years ago that the US
Treasury Department changed its seal so that it says only "The Department
of the Treasury 1789" rather than the Latin for "Seal of the Treasury of
North America."
