>>> John Boone on Biofuzz
JB> If one were to measure HR, generated by measuring the P-P
JB> internal - the time from the beginning of one heart beat to
JB> the beginning of the next divided into 60) placing them in a
JB> sequence, with increasing number representing HR happening at
JB> a latter point in time, e.g. HR1, HR 2, HR 3 HR4, HR5, HR6, HR7,
JB> etc.
JB> Now, let x be HR1 and y be HR2 and plot the point,
JB> next let x by HR2 and y be HR3 and plot the point, etc.
JB> Said plotting technique results in a distribution on the
JB> x-y plane. Apparently, the smaller the spread, the more
JB> likely death is to occur. The trick becomes what spread
JB> is "Ok" and what spread is not.
Given a function f measured at discrete times t1, t2, ..., ti, ... with ti <
ti' where i' = i+1, plot the pairs . So what's the spread
function? A measure of what? The function of your example is 60/(Pulse
Interval). Why the reciprocal?
Now if the pulse interval is holding steady, the points will all fall at
about the same point. A -small- spread but a likelihood of death?
WE> Indeed, and visa versa, life like formations are generated by such a
WE> process.
JB> Even crystalization, shows such fractal nature.
Yes, but even more. Computer graphics generated by fractles are very life
like. Trees, ferns, etc, for example.
WE> Now if you were to look into the index of your books,
WE> especially the one on managing uncertainty, for biological
WE> or medical applications, that would be a start.
JB> I have a book, differential equations and their applications
JB> with a look at the medical disorder diabetes, but have not had
JB> time to look at it like so many other books :(.
Naw, not that book, your -fuzzy- books. A quick look in one or two books
just to locate, not to read, any examples.
WE> uncertainty is frequent companion to diagnosis. Let me
WE> know if you find any examples.
JB> Right, now, I have 5 magazines to read, just got 4 in the mail,
JB> so, it will be a while before I will be able to look and contemplate.
JB> I have tried to keep this short as I have some heavy reading to
JB> do.
Any fuzz in any of these magazines?
... Is Occam's razor sharp enuf to split hairs?
