True enough, in reality.  But those who watch them religously don't want
to accept that fact, and make all sorts of rationalizations for their
viewing.  Sad thing is, though, that they really do start to believe
that the soaps depict normal life, and tend to make their own lives
resemble the soaps, by the ways that they interact with the situations
that they meet everyday in real life...  I see it all too often... :(
