[root{at}melbourne init.d]# ps -ef|grep smb

root 2674 1 0 19:43 ? 00:00:00 smbd -D

Check if you've got a file called smb in /etc/init.d. If so, see if it's
set to start on boot:

chkconfig --list smb

If it says it's off:

smb 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:off 4:off 5:off 6:off

turn it on with 'chkconfig smb on'

If it's not installed, install it with Package Manager - it's Servers /
Windows File Server.
