No, you can run it without.  In fact none of the modem speed flags indicate
support for (or against) any of the error correction or compression flags;
they're completely unrelated issues, generically.

Re your other comments on nodelist flags; I'm surprised you don't list HST,
one's nodelist entry being for the benefit of potential callers, not
oneself; there's certainly no problem in receiving HST calls, technically
or legally.
