Ok. I'm not sure why it required a reinstallation.  I've taken single 
processor
systems to multiporcessor system without reinstalling NT.  There is a utility
in the resource kit to help you do this.  It is called: UPTOMP.EXE .  Now
service packs can be a problem though ...
