Not so.  We are talking about YOU stealing here.

Usually they do.  Most receive royalties on a per copy sold basis.

To put it no your words:  The author doesn't care if your economy is so 
stuffed that your GDP and salaries are so low.

It always comes down to the same thing:  If you can't afford it then do with 
out!  As it is I earn far below the average wage for Australia
