SB> Right now I'm in a nearly violent anti-Indian spirituality mood.
SB> Mario, Rob and I were asked to come to an earth day celebration, and
SB> help plant a tree, and share some soup and bread, and that sort of
SB> thing. We went. Big mistake. An Indian should probably *never* go to
SB> an Earth Day celebration.
Hmmm... I'll have to think about that one. Initial reaction? That _kind_
of thing _probably_ wouldn't happen around here. _Usually_ a group that
ould
want to put something "Indian" in their celebration would ask an Indian.
ut,
not necessarily.
SB> I then launched into some childhood tales of horror, complete with
SB> blood and cannabalism; but, periodically, bringing things back to the
SB> fact that all these things were wrong. A slow look of horror crossed
SB> the adult faces. The kids were delighted.
Good job. I suspect that around here some adults that were raised in a
school that glorified the "dead white guys" would be shocked, too. Whenever
I mention something from the books that doesn't agree with the myths, adults
are usually "shocked."
SB> I'll probably never get invited back again. But in the end, I had a
SB> *great* time.
Actually, it would be a BIG mistake on the organizers part NOT to invite you
back. But... If they don't want the truth and want to live in their
make-believe world of fantasy, then there is probably little anyone can do.
