TT> NOT. The MT10k is a single-channel amplifier, not a stereo model.
TT> It _can_ produce in excess of 10k watts into a .1ohm load with a
TT> damping factor of over 1000 at 100hz.
-> Exsqueeeze me? 0.1 ohm did you say? damping of 1000 at 100 hz?
-> into what ohmage does this damping factor come into play?
Yessir. 0.1ohm. DF of 1000 at 100hz. No joke. Check the cutsheets.
Call Crown in Elkhart and talk to them. It's a big mamma.
-> If it is 1000 at 0.1 ohm, I will get 2 of these units in august for
-> myself and for my road gigs and scrap these audiopro 3400's.
I think you probably wouldn't want to try that, for a number of reasons.
1> You'd end up with only two channels of amplification. Either
you're going to kiss biamping your system goodbye, or you'll
be converting to mono. That would be distinctly un-rider-friendly,
and would cost you much regional/national business in the long run.
2> The MT10k is a three-phase-only amplifier. Virtually impossible
to use in small nightclubs or on corporate dates. And a big pain
       in the butt everywhere else.
3> The MT10k weighs in at 125#s. I'd figger the AP3400s weigh
80#s at worst. If you used MT10ks in a full-range or mono rig,
you probably wouldn't have any difference in weight between
your rack of AP3400s. But God help ya if you wanted to use
       MT10ks in a two or three-way stereo rig! :-)
Hey, there's a reason that Clair Bros. uses modified Carver
PM-2.0s for all their power. There's a reason that QSC developed
their Powerlight series. Shipping big heavy transformers costs
       a poopload of $$$.
4> The MT10k MSRPs at $9,999.99. (10k). Go figure.
In short, the MT10k is best viewed as an icon of what Crown performance
means, and then forgotten about before daydreaming takes a hold on your
wallet. In relation, the .44Magnum is one hell of a weapon, but
you'd be better off with a .38 snub for day-to-day use.
And you'd be far better off in most situations with MT2400s, 5000VZs, or
the split-power 36X12s.

Tim ==
