LP> Jim, what is 'trust land'?
In a nutshell... Land that has been put in "trust" for the NAs to use.
Usually not part of the reservation. They may or may not "own" it outright.
The "trust" status usually allows them to _use_ the land just like
reservation land that the tribe might "own". An example would be the Spirit
Mountian casino here in Oregon. The casino is built on "trust" land, not
on the reservation. The federal government, however, is the body that
confers that "trust" status on the land as the result of a "petition"
process. It wouldn't be automatic.

Well, that's kind of a touchy subject. If it's _their_ reservation, who's
responsible for making it "livable"? Here in Oregon the Indians think they
are the ones responsible and they are almost all taking steps to improve
their reservations. (With gambling casino profits.)
LP> I am not qualified to understand such a question, as I come from a

LP> here, even I can see that land = money.
Well, ususally that's the case. But there are a LOT of business people that
don't own the land or buildings from which they conduct business. They rent
or lease.
LP> So are you going to tell us what's on their menu?
I can post more details later (I just tossed the newspaper article) but I
remember venison, buffalo, steelhead, oysters, succotash, and huckleberries
are all on there somewhere.
Jim
