subject: Motorola NAMing options

OW>I've got a Motorola 2900n bag phone and am wondering what the various

OW> 5 digit = 11100 /
first digit = Failed Page Indicator disable, fifth digit = 8 Hour
Timeout disable (failed page indicator alerts you to a call that did not
ring through due to inadequate signal strength - caution, a failed call
will disable phone until alert is cleared)
I'm afraid this is all the info I could get off the programming
instruction sheet that came with my MicroTAC 8-(
OW> Now to the moderator :
I think I can answer this one 8-)
OW>In New Zealand it is not illegal to play with these settings or to know
OW>what they do. However it maybe illegal to use the phone after changing
OW>some, but if I cant find out which ones... ?
Well, it seems to be legal for the customer to program the phone - the
carriers sell Nokia handhelds that you activate over the phone and the
discount resellers also activate over the phone (at least with the
Microtacs and others that can be programmed without a special adapter)
