-> 07 Jan 16 10:01, you wrote to me: -> RF> But the Synchronet was on a server I sold and did not save the setup -> RF> (to my regret) -> i was only going by your other statement which seemed to indicate that you got -> rid of the software, not the machine... i knew you had done mystic at one time -> but i wasn't sure if you still did... i've got a couple of others i'm thinking -> about bringing up to see what they're like... while i hate to do it, i'm -> probably going to be forced to leave my beloved RA/FD/FE setup behind and move -> to something native to modern OSes (hint: linux) that definitely has offline -> mail capabilities and i'm really wanting bluewave compatibility also for my -> users... of the few doors that i have installed, scrabble and king of the board -> are really the only two that see any action... so those two are must haves, as -> well, and that means dosemu for them... hopefully without the problems that -> others have seen running them in dosemu... -> )\/(ark -> "So let me ask you a question about this brave new world of yours. When you've -> killed all the bad guys, and when it's all perfect, and just and fair, and when -> you have finally got it exactly the way you want it, what are you going to do -> with the people like you? The trouble makers. How are you going to protect your -> glorious revolution from the next one?" - The twelfth Doctor -> ... Chicken Little was right. -> --- Guess I was not clear that the machine went, but it was a rush job, this financial org was in a hot spot and needed to prove they had a back up machine ready to go in less than 24 hrs if they completely lost their server (only have one) and they did not and could not invest online back up service. They only have dsl where they are at so I proposed setting up this older server I was playing with and didn't need, so they bought the windows server os and I setup and got their financial program running which requires a domain server with sql. We met the deadline and they are happy. That was in December, the worst time of year to get things done in a hurry. Anyways I have though about Linux, but am so green that I've been hesistant of trying (green to Linux). I bit my teeth on command line with the old dos 2.11 and more comfortable getting thins done at the command prompt than using the GUI, though the gui does ease certain functions, but I like my cmd/bat files. I've tried all the bbs software, almost and wwiv is one I have not and am trying out. Mostly because it is so different than the other packages. Ezycon is one I have not tried but from what I have seen it fits into most of how the others are setup. So far Mystic is my favorite. I use it to feed my other bbs's as points. Wildcat I hang onto because I am so vested in it, it is ridiculous on the amount of money I have spent on it. But the WinServer portion is great and has been worth the money to maintain and update. Though I have not paid for updating in about a year but have not seen anything I want to spend the money on updating my current setup. Well off to work I go.
