Don't know if you have a lock up or NOT but what you are experiencing is
that classic symptoms of a slipping lock up clutch.
The lockup has a facing just like a regular clutch and when it gets worn
it does start slipping. GM is famious for providing the minimum to get a
car through the Warranty. In the case of my 1998 S-10 pickup they timed
it perfect and I had to have the lock up converter replaced shortly
after the warranty.

Interestingly I have a 1993 Subaru with an lockup overdrive transmission
an it is still going strong at 220,000 Miles with NO transmission work.

ML>my '95 Gran Prix has started to get a "slip" in it after some time of
ML>driving... in the past, i'd been told that there's no overdrive on my vehicl
ML>but that it was using a "lock-up torque convertor" which
supposedly locks to
ML>the shaft to give a 1:1 turning ration once cruising speed was reached...

ML>the symptom is that while cruising, you'll feel it
"shift"... almost a
ML>"bounce"... if you watch the tachometer, you'll see it go
from 2000 and slid
ML>easily up to 2500 and then a few seconds later, you'd feel that
"shift" agai
ML>and it'll drop back to 2000... it'll do this a few times and then generally
ML>settles out and operates normally... sometimes i mash on it and force passin
ML>gear for a few seconds and then back off of it... that seems to work, too...

ML>so, i dunno... is there a lock-up torque convertor on this vehicle? what wou
ML>cause it to unlock during normal cruising (~60mph)? could it be something as
ML>simple as fluids? i've checked them by the owner's manual and they seem to b
ML>fine :?
