That growing up seems to be happening all over. I'm going to a Bat
Mitzvah this Saturday for a young lady that, just yesterday, I was
tossing into the air above my head. I have to write a Bat Mitzvah poem
for her. I hope I know enough about Judaicism to get it right. At least
I know the Bat Mitzvah is just one of many mitzvahs; and the beginning
of a long commitment to her journey within her faith. I think, though,
that I will approach it as a part of a long generational journey, and
not a long personal journey; and compare the personal journey through
many mitzvahs to the journey of her family through many trials. After
all, her grandparents were children in Hitler's concentration camps. So,
in a real sense, this Bat Mitzvah is a fulfillment of their dreams to
continue their people into future generations.

I haven't heard from her. I think they're in New York City right now.
