Hey Alexey!
AV> it's slightly bigger than 62*24*14 mm box with RT5350F inside.
Slightly more expensive too. I believe the wireless RT2870/RT3070 wireless
adapter alone is slightly more expensive although I think it might have a
greater range. It's an indoor/outdoor panel type device.
AV> Also, these devices have some not-yet-TBA applications.
Same with mine. ;-) Speaking of which one of them could easily be an access
point for a wireless CP866 Fidonet Russian sysop if it needed to be one. I
already tested it out in this echo and it seems to work just fine. Also
considering all the other possible encodings available to it I am thinking it
would also make a great access point to almost any Fidonet sysop in the world
no matter what language they speak. I am not convinced your proposed system
can make the same claim ... without some serious hacking that is.
AV> If you need just a livedrop, simply install OpenWRT and rsync.
I am not sure. I still need to investigate it more but offhand I am guessing
I'll need a mips cross compiler, which I believe is doable, if I am going to
make it as capable as I'd like it to be. Offhand I am guessing I'll need to
hack it.
AV> but the wireless connection must always be considered unsafe and

Yes. I'm always looking to improve/change things to stay ahead of the game.
As it sits today the clients are the weakest links. :::knock on wood:::
AV> Low-voltage devices generally don't. Improperly engigeered power
AV> supplies do.
So I've heard. Nobody I know bought one of those so it was never an issue in
this neck of the woods. In this neighbourhood all of the ones within range are
all older 32 bit Android based ones. There was one iPhone and iPad not too
long ago but she moved. For the record both did work with the setup here but
she was just barely within range.
Life is good,
Maurice
... Don't cry for me I have vi.
