Agreed, that just because they THINK they deserve it doesn't mean that they will get it. Also agreed that there are legitimate ways to side step an incipient situation (and that that can make conflict less likely). NB>> Where we differ, it would appear, is that I am willing to use the NB>> term respect also in the sense of respecting the person as a person, MK> Probably. I don't use it lightly just to please someone unless I see MK> no other alternative. Perhaps I should clarify just a bit... I'm usually not using the term directly TO the person, it's just the way I'd describe it to myself. So it isn't a case of trying to please someone (usually a futile task anyway...!) by using it. Just that my usual way of dealing with people is to have an outward demeanor of graciousness toward them no matter how I may be feeling about them inwardly. And, as above, I'm not above finding ways to avoid needing to deal with people where inward and outward don't match up well... ;) NB>> But that is turning out to be more a semantic thing, after all... :) MK> I am not so sure but am not sure how much it really matters other then MK> to my inner self who appears to be nitpicky on the area of respect. MK> Stinkin' inner self. LOL I'm actually with you on that one, too, it would appear... NB>> And we don't always get a choice as to who we have to deal with. MK> Yes.
