Steve, since I saw your message about converting underline
to italics, I have been thinking that it can be done with
a macro ("programmed," not recorded). Forgetting that you
said "Version 6.x DOS or Win," I wrote code in 5.1 DOS that
convinces me it can be done. However, my macro has a bug or
two, and at the moment, I do not have the time to work out
the bugs. I have not learned to use the equivalent of the
5.1 {System} in Version 6.0 DOS, so Doing that will take
me longer, no doubt.
My point is that it can be done, and I think someone else
told of writing a macro, and mentioned that it followed
in his message, but he forgot to include it.
My philosophy in the macro was to search for underline code,
set a counter to 0, test {System} for underline state, step
to right one character, add one to counter, etc. until
{System} was not in underline state, block left an amount
of counter -1 (sorry doing this from memory and may be off
base, but the general ideas is right), set block to italics,
delete underline code. Then go to the top and search. The
basic routine for testing for underline and converting from
underline to italics I think works fine, but when I added
the search loop the whole thing went sour. No time to fiddle
with it now.
