Hi Hung!
Apparently, I owe you an apology for the cheap shot on your name, and
now offer one. It wasn't intended as a slam, though.
-> Hi Bonnie, if that's your real name. Why in the world wouldn't Hung
-> be my real name? Maybe is it because I'm Asian that you make a
-> comment like that?
Comedian/actor Harry Anderson is where I picked up that, "if that's your
real name" bit from, which I've always thought was really funny. I
don't have any racial problems, and I don't normally associate name to
races. Where in in Asia do you hail from originally? Is Hung an
exclusively Asian name? Until today, I've never met a Molly that was
Asian.
-> Okay, he was wrong in making the assumption that you haven't heard
-> the speakers, but he probably knew that you would've put them down
-> anyways. I am not saying you or anyone else is not entitled to
-> their opinion. What I'm saying is that somethings are good for
-> their purpose and while others may not think so, if someone thinks
-> that it is, then that is their opinion. They do not deserve to have
-> insults coming to them because of their opinion. BTW, how old are
-> you?
For the record, I'm in my 40's is all I need to state for the time
being. A babyboomer that got into electonics, music and audio at a very
early age and worked at music stores throughout my teens doing sound and
electronics for many well known acts. Music major in college with
computer science as possible (why would you EVER want to dual major in
computer science AND music was all they said back then, hehe).
I've worked in sound contracting, prison security and support
electronics, live sound, consumer electronics, custom R & D,
electronic design and contracting, theatical lighting and support and
have been largely self employed over the lass 6 years doing stagehand
work for the local IASTE (just got home from working Hello Dolly out
from a week run on the traveling road show with Carol Channing), a few
temp positions and mostly working in my studio on projects fo the local
fine arts folk, a little sound design for local media, working on 4
different musical projects now, a "retro" band called Boomer, and
orignals band called Moonbreeze, developing a duo with a very fine
guitar player to do a few gigs with, and then there's my own works in
progress.
Didn't mean to give you a resume, sorry. Now, as far as deliberately
trying to put anyone down or their opinions down, I'm not sure how long
you've been around here, but most of those that have been here for
awhile will say that I'm pretty moderate about most things. Everyone has
a bad day once in a while, and you may have been having one at the same
time that I wrote one that shouldn't have been saved so quickly.
I do have pretty strong opinions about some things though, it's
something that 25 years of professional experience in the
industry gives one the ability to spout about things once in a
while.. and the others that have similar "lifetimes" of experience in
their special interests.
One of the best computer speakers I've ever heard is probably the
Minimus 7's from Shady Ol' Rack. I haven't to one of those stores
recently to see what is currently their lineup of speakers.Love those
things for surrounds in home theatres.. You can add a sub to any good
small mini speaker with bass about to 200 or so before falling off, and
it will sound excellent to most folk. That's all that is required for
most with a small stereo amp, or a sub/amp system tied in. Whatever way
you go, the only thing I really want to get across is that there might
be another option to consider before plopping down $300 or more for
sound on your computer. If Altec Lansing makes it, I'll usually like
it, they have considerable respect to me. It may not be the finest in
the world, but it will certainly get the job done.
There's a knowledgable bunch of people that all contribute to making
this echo go, and generally I try to make moderation by as low key as
possible measures. Direct netmail if there is a problem is always the
best way to handle and problems that you may seem to have with me or the
echo. I do carefully consider all that is written to me in this matter.
