i have to wonder what kind of filter you are/were expecting... i've never
known of anything to be listed as a "passenger compartment
filter" for any A/C or related air flow services...

however, my father's chrysler sebring has recently started
"spitting" dark coarse "foam core" at us/him thru the
ait vents... this "foam core" is dry and brittle... obviously
from age... this foam core has (finally) broken up from the air flow and is
now being blown thru the system to the air vents and then some of it breaks
off and is then blown into the passenger compartment...

is this "filter" what you were inquiring about??
