/etc/init.d/smb

/etc/rc.d/init.d/smb

scripts that in different versions of *nix expected to find it in different
places? Does that happen a lot?

The chkconfig doesn't work:
[randall{at}localhost ~]$ chkconfig --list smb bash: chkconfig: command not found
