Ahhhh, I used to have one of those paperweights myself, once.  Actually,
that's something that it does because it was built to do that.  When you
adjust the BFO, it will take you plus or minus a few off of the carrier
AND display the offset.  I hear tell that he 302 not only had an extra
IF crystal filter, but it also did NOT display the BFO offset like the
300...but I can't swear to it.  Either way, for the 300, that's normal.
