Which all goes back to where we started, where I was musing about the different ways in which the word respect was used... :) I think we both agree that the situations in which you would use the term "respect" to describe your feelings is the primary usage of the term. And, further, that that is probably the level of respect that others expect to get from us, even when they *don't* actually deserve it. Which is where I think that some of the seemingly contradictory uses of the word stem from. Where we differ, it would appear, is that I am willing to use the term respect also in the sense of respecting the person as a person, and therefore deserving a certain degree of latitude in dealing with. But that is turning out to be more a semantic thing, after all... :) And we don't always get a choice as to who we have to deal with.. It's nice when most of them turn out to be those that we can respect, especially when it becomes a long-term thing... :) ttyl neb ...
