I'm not sure local DNS cache does anything useful time savings wise.  I run
Hosts Man which blocks web ads and serves up a statement "Blocked By
HostsMan" line in place of the ads.  It recommends turning off the
local DNS cache and I don't notice any speed difference when its off. 
Maybe it means more on a slow connection.
