It's close for some people who only need E-mail, Internet, and Word Processing. Key points: you still have to have a local Linux support person. From that point of view, it only makes sense for home systems of people who also use it for work - the employees of the state of Massachusetts if they all move to Linux for example. Otherwise, the Mac makes it the most friendly. > Theses messages make it >clear there are many secret command line incantations that one must know to >do many things. RedHat is not the most advanced in terms of GUI-everything. Other distributions are better in the GUI area. My requirements are different - like absolutely being able to run, not being disabled by the whim of the OS manufacturer, and pretested, tightly controlled updates. I can move my current development into another distribution if necessary. There are GUI ways of doing things that I have not investigated since I want to know how to script things from the command line when I get to that point. --- BBBS/NT v4.01 Flag-5* Origin: Barktopia BBS Site http://HarborWebs.com:8081 (1:379/45) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 5030/786 @PATH: 379/45 1 106/2000 633/267 |
