Hey Gary,

What I should have said was ability to use tcp/ip. Currenty,
maximus can display any text based graphics. Rip, ANSI, and yes, HTML. If
Max was able to access the tcp/ip stack, users could use Netscape or IE to
use the BBS. I'm sure, that Mex could even be made to act like JAVA.
The BBS is dieing because many people don't want to worry about com
programs. The want to click their dial internet provider iconand goto the
net. Use Netscape of IE. It is easy enough for users to add another Dial
internet provider, which is your BBS. I'm not saying that Max should be
turned into a web server, just that it should be given access tothe tcp/ip
stack. That would attract users back because they could use Netscape, IE,
etc.
Sure, you would need some type of ppp server, or something. That's
not impossible either. And you don't have to be on the "NET" to
offer Web browser access.
Currently I working a NTTP server that stores the news in Squish
format. Squish will kill the old messages, toss now ones to .PKT files to
send to other BBS's, etc. Max, and the server will have access to the same
message base. The NTTP server will just be there to serve the FIDO message
areas to my web browser users, not gate to the internet.

        Chris
