   This was Tbird on Linux.  Tbird on Windows did not exhibit the same
problem.   I can guess what is going on based on the symptoms, but
Wireshark doesn't show the difference between Linux and Windows.   It
appears to be on the barkto news server end, but the thing that triggers
must be a timing issue - one system may overlap commands more than the
other.
