I've distributed all of the basic applications on our network with NAL and
ZENworks. Here's what I've found ...

1. Make sure to get the latest patches for the NAL dll's from Novell
2. Read www.novell.com\coolsolutions for lots of helpful hints
3. Make sure that you've got a product like GHOST that will help you to create a
basic WIN95/98/NT (whatever you're using) + Novell Client 3.1 image. The best
way that I found to do this on my Snappshot PC was to create two partitions. On
the second partition I placed the Win95 cab files and the Novell client installs
as well as the ghost image of the C: partition and the Ghost program files.
4. When you run SnappShot for a new app, make sure that you have re-imaged the
PC with your GHOST image first so that the registry is clean. Use the D:
partition locally to store the .FIL and .AOT/.AXT files (even though SnAppShot
recommends a network location). I found that under some circumstances with
larger app installs that SnAppshot app would hang if you tried to place the AOT
directly on the network. Once the app is installed and snapshot is done, then
copy the .FILs and the .AOT to a network location where clients will install
them from
5. When creating the NDS object for the application, make sure to specify a
location to run the .EXE and choose the icon, then make sure that you go to
system requirements and check all platforms that can run the app.
6. Test test and retest your apps to make sure they work the way you envision on
all the platforms that you are delivering to. Coolsolutions has excellent help
on setting up app objects to run on multiple platforms.

Hope this helps,
