BS>> Could somebody give me a short briefing, what the future plans is BS>> of Maximus? For me (the one other person than Scott registered on the Source Forge site), the goal is to get the code running on a Linux (or other freely distributable Unix like) platform while maintaining my OS/2 capability while I transition. I'd like to keep it running on the current supported platforms at the same time. The 16-bit versions are likely to be dropped, but I'm not 100% sure yet. NW> Maximus is now Open Source and the project is hosted on NW> sourceforge.net. BS> Yeah i know so :) BS>> I remember somebody wrote about a plain 32bit version, but then BS>> will it be started? I've played some with it..... NW> Last time I looked, there seemed to be only one person, apart from NW> Scott Dudley, involved in the project and no work being done. :-( BS> That was my impression too. But what is the problem, BS> about developing it? Time problems? License problems? .. Time is the main crunch. There are no license problems that I know of with the code at this time. I am trying to get things to compile under both OS/2 and Linux. I was hoping for a quick compile using the Open Watcom compiler under OS/2. Unfortunately, the make sub-system that drives all the various compiles has been a bit touchy for me. DMake is not properly working for me under OS/2. I haven't pulled the tools together to try to compile under a Windows box to test out the DMake setup there. Scott last compiled the code on a Windows based box, and using older versions of the Watcom compiler. At this point, I need to update my open watcom compiler again. And if I'm going to develope on a Windows box, I've got a number of tools I have to collect before I can attempt compilation there (Open Watcom, DMake, YACC/Lex/Bison (need one of them), etc.). If there is someone who would like to help work on the make issues, it would help. I'm not looking forward to rebuilding the make sub-system, but it is one thought -- since I want to compile under Linux, and DMake is not what has been adopted as a standard (freely redistributable) make platform in that environment. There are a fair number of make files to get revised for a switch in the make sub-system, and a switch will break some of the cross compile features with out some thought and effort. As you can tell from my delayed response, I'm reading the fido echo areas on a limited basis. Take care.....
