Replying to a message of John Massey to All: JM> Just this one policy initiative from PrezBo shows how out of touch he JM> is, and how completely beholden he is to the environmental left - a JM> movement dedicated to the destruction of American capitalism. Obama JM> has now decided that every state shall be free to set its own JM> environmental standards for auto emissions. This could mean as many JM> (though we hope not) as 50 different standards for automobile JM> emissions. Now how in the world is our auto industry supposed to deal JM> with this? One thing for sure, this will mean a rather steep climb in JM> the cost of automobiles. When an automaker has to meet one standard JM> for California, and another for Arizona, then costs can't help but go JM> up. This whole mess is due to leftist alarmism over man-made global JM> warming .. a creation of the left and something that has never been JM> shown outside of a computer model. This could be a death knell for JM> the American automobile manufacturing companies. It ain't just cars. In parts of California it is illegal to mow your lawn with a gasoline powered mower (those same municipalities will also climb all over you if you *don't* mow your lawn, and won't let you keep sheep on the property). It is also illegal in some parts of that state to barbecue on a grill in the back yard. And it is illegal in some parts of that state to burn your burnable trash in an incinerator that's made and sold for that purpose. Dunno about wood stoves - I do know that in some parts of Colorado they've been outlawed (apparently too many people had them and were burning too much wood in addition to the smoke problem). --- FleetStreet 1.19+* Origin: Bob's Boneyard, Emerson, Iowa (1:300/3) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 18/200 34/999 120/228 123/500 128/2 140/1 226/0 236/150 SEEN-BY: 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1410 1418 266/1413 SEEN-BY: 280/1027 633/260 267 712/848 800/432 2222/700 2320/100 105 200 2905/0 @PATH: 300/3 14/5 140/1 261/38 633/260 267 |
