  Ghost in the Shell isn't cartoon-like because the creators were trying to 
approach a serious theme.  Even in Ninja Scroll, with its violence and 
"other" situations, the attitude the creators took was more one of fun than 
deadly seriousness.
  C'mon, admit it - Duke 3D, in any incarnation, is cartoonish.  Adding 
vocals (especially ones as cliched as Duke's) or blood doesn't suddenly make 
it a more serious game.
