Below is the first stage of my planned activity. I would appreciate
everyones input on the schedule and ideas to make the day better. Please
send me ideas on other activities that could be done, in case one or more of
the planned ones can not be done. #6 below is one I might pull out so please
give me a substitue!
Beat it up - chop it up - and serve it back to me with new/more content
please!

and Safety Station (warm up and dry out station). After each troop as
completed an event, a runner will take their score to the HQ to be put up on
the score board. The Snow Sculpture and Chili tasting scores will be
tabulated and added to the score board at the end of the day.
Activities;
1) Fire lighting - boil water.: 5 Points awarded based upon first to get
fire going ( 3 for second, 1 for third) and 5 additional points for the first
to have a minimum of 1 cup of water boiling and make a cup of tea for their
leader who must drink it! ( 3 for second, 1 for third) all based upon time.
One match will be supplied, each additional match required will deduct one
point. Burning materials will be all natural and gathered by the troop during
the event. No maximum number of participants. Troops can get negative
scores here.
2) Snow sculpture. Judged based upon theme. 10 points awarded to best
troop sculpture. 7 points to second, 5 points to third, 3 to fourth. No
maximum number of participants.
3) 4 Man Ski course - 10 points for first, 7 for second, 5 for third, 3 for
fourth and 1 for finishing. 3 boys and 1 leader to go through a set course
on the skis, points based upon time. More than one team from each troop can
run this event but only the fastest time will count. Each team is to be made
up of different members - no repeats. (note: The skis are special skis
supplied locally - 4 man skis, not 4 men skiing seperately)
4) Show Shoe relay race. 2 sets of shoes per team. 4 boys and 1 leader to
run the course, one at a time. Time stops when last boy crosses finish line.
10 points for fastest time, 7 for second, 5 for third, 3 for fourth and 1 for
finishing. More than one team from each troop can run this event but only
the fastest time will count. Each team is to be made up of different members
- no repeats.
5) Race against time to build a stretcher and carry a scout leader through a
set course to Safety. Poles and rope to be supplied. 10 points for fastest
time, 7 for second, 5 for third, 3 for fourth and 1 for finishing. Knots
used, design and safety of stretcher will also be judged - 10 for first, 7
for second, 5 for third, 3 for fourth and 1 for completing the stretcher.
Judging of the stretch is done AFTER the Scouter is safely carried through
the course. If the leader falls off or through the stretcher, deduct 1 point.
If the stretcher breaks apart, deduct one point. Maximum 6 boys and 1 leader
to work at this event. Negative points can be accumulated. If time permits,
more than one team from each troop can run this event but only the fastest
time will count. Each team is to be made up of different members - no
repeats.
6) Tent Setup! Each troop will be timed while they setup a 5 man tent, and
time will stop when the tent is properly setup (pegged down, including fly)
and all 5 boys are inside the tent (zipper closed). 10 points for fastest
time, 7 for second, 5 for third, 3 for fourth and 1 for finishing. Then the
same 5 boys must dismantle the tent and pack it away properly. This will
also be a timed event and the time will stop when the leader in charge says
they have completed the job properly. 5 points for fastest, 3 for second and
1 for third.
7) Chili making contest. Each troop will make up a pot of chili and bring
it with them. The pots will be heated and eaten for supper. The chili will
also be judged for best chili for a "Chilly Day". 15 points for first, 10
for second, 7 for third, 4 for fourth, 1 for fifth. Bring your best batch to
top the day off! As the final event of the day, this could decide the best
troop of "Chilly Day"
When the troops are not doing one of the timed events they should be working
on their troop sculpture!
A closing campfire is planned around 5pm, so bring some songs, skits and
cheers
along with your campfire blanket, to help finish the day off right.
3rd place through 1st place will be announced at the campfire!
Good luck and have fun!
